Slow day at the lake for pike fishing at the mouth of the bay,but as usual, right from 3:30 to sunset at 5 we picked up all our fish. They were in the shallows on the camp side of the bay in about 7 ft of water

Lunds 12/27/19
Tried Lunds landing again today for pike, I always feel like that little point by the marina should be so good in winter. I managed to catch 4 smaller pike, 3 being identical at 27 inches. Nothing too impressive, all came from 3-4 o’clock. Nice sunny blue sky day with no wind though.
Side note one pike had a small crappie in it, so kinda cool. No pics sadly.
Spring 2019 report
Spring started off strong then stalled for like ever but I think things are starting to normal out. Spawns are done but the bite is solid. Smelt have yet to spawn but should really soon.
Walleye are up shallow and biting strong on spinners, cranks, and plastics. I have done good with the plastic storm minnow and jig, and minnows on a floating jig from shore and boat.
Pike are also still cruising the shallows looking for food and the white bass are everywhere. Some bigger ones are starting to move in for spawn.
Temps have been low for awhile almost freezing at night and barely 50 during day. But we are warming finally and I believe that will make the smelt run soon.
Side note I have caught my 2 biggest walleye the last few weeks at 5 lbs each and I put rooke on a huge fish at 10 lbs. She was sitting in 14 ft of water on a cooler day in the evening.

Waiting to hear on smelt spawn, should be soon! Also caught crawlers tonight from my yard so good times. Also went to springlake and got 1 trout, 2 cats, and like 6 bullhead.
1/25/18 lewis and clark
Went out after school on a nice 34 degree day seeking pike at lewis and clark. Managed to get 3 smaller fish in an hour, one was big enough to keep and on cleaning it was full of small minnows, I mean PACKED. Was just inside the opening still at about 15 ft of water. Might need to try shallower water already for the big fish.
Smelt run
Smelt started running on friday and should continue all week. I checked the muddy yesterday and saw nothing but was curious. Some big pike were also caught this week out at lunds, 19 lbers.
Also today is opening day of paddle fishing, will post more about that later.
Catching pike
Well no where is biting good, but I’ve found pike in lewis and clark bay. The bay is at 14 ft of water and the pike seem to be cruising through. Marked alot of fish and was able to call them in with a thumping rap and caught one on it. Otherwise today smelt was king with all of our hits and fish coming on smelt, except one. Water was cold, 10-15, with snow in the morning and clearing in the afternoon. Bite was mostly at evening, coming after 4 and sunset at 6.
Spring update
So far this spring came early. I have heard reports of smelt starting to run on the lake by lunds landing. Walleye by Newtown have been good but on this end its been real slow. Not a lot of reports but last weekend I went out and got a few pike, one being 12 lbs but I think was half spawned out. Also caught a ling, all in about 10-15 ft of water. Temp have been solid for about a week now so water temp should be up, I’ll check this weekend if I go out. No melt yet from the river so lake levels are real low.
