Spring 2019 report

Spring started off strong then stalled for like ever but I think things are starting to normal out. Spawns are done but the bite is solid. Smelt have yet to spawn but should really soon.

Walleye are up shallow and biting strong on spinners, cranks, and plastics. I have done good with the plastic storm minnow and jig, and minnows on a floating jig from shore and boat.

Pike are also still cruising the shallows looking for food and the white bass are everywhere. Some bigger ones are starting to move in for spawn.

Temps have been low for awhile almost freezing at night and barely 50 during day. But we are warming finally and I believe that will make the smelt run soon.

Side note I have caught my 2 biggest walleye the last few weeks at 5 lbs each and I put rooke on a huge fish at 10 lbs. She was sitting in 14 ft of water on a cooler day in the evening.

Shore fishing 5.21.18

Went out shore fishing at lewis and Clark yesterday with Sam and did really well. We fished the point at lewis and Clark with slip bobber in about 3 feet of water topped with jig head and minnow. Water is high and muddy but fish were biting. Managed several white bass, a crappie, a catfish, and a super nice walleye that sam let go. 26.5 inch, 7 lb, fish! Crappie was spawned out already but may have just happened. Bass were not.

Late spring eyes

Walleye have been biting great the past week. Went out Thursday and got 5. All of the fish are shallow, 6-10 feet of water or even lesd. Got 3 of them on a yellow and silver clackin-rap but worms on lindys did well too. Weather has been really warm and water is pretty muddy but they don’t seem to mind. Surface temp was 60 degrees or more.
No pictures sorry.
